Restricted Breeds
New Zealand does not allow dogs that are the following breeds or predominantly a mix of the following breeds:
- Brazilian Fila
- Dogo Argentino
- Japanese Tosa
- Perro de Presa Canario
- American Pit Bull Terrier
Mixed dog breeds are not allowed. They must show a certain number of generations of domestic ancestry to be allowed to be imported into the country. Oddly a similar thing goes for cats, except for bengal cats.
